Fighting a society with unrealistic expectations towards the female body and retrograde mentalities against their natural bodies being exposed.
Combining traditional Spanish looking materials, fabrics, and symbols together and in contrast with the exposed female bodies. Appreciating and honouring a part of my culture but criticising the traditional mentality behind it.
In a society where there are unrealistic expectations towards our bodies, I'm exploring the female body with its perfect imperfections.ยจ These expectations can take away our emotional and physical energy making it very difficult for us to accept our own bodies as they are. It makes us believe that if we don't fit in those standards, we are not good enough to show our bodies to the rest of the world.
This installation represents the different stages we can go through; feeling unhappy and insufficient, trying to connect with ourselves, and finally, (in an ideal ending) accepting ourselves in our own bodies feeling empowered.
